Algeria defeated Senegal by 1-0 to be the African Champions For the second time. Early Goal in the second minute by Baghdad Bounedjah helped Algeria Lift AFCON Trophy in the Capital of Egypt.
Algeria took early lead and defended that lead up to the end of the match. Senegal enjoyed 64% of Possesion but couldn’t get a goal to get back on the match. Sadio Mane was Unable to win another major title this season but this is the fifth title for Ryad Mahrez.
Midway through the second half, it looked as though Senegal had been handed a lifeline after referee Alioum Alioum awarded a penalty for handball.However, after being advised by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to review the incident on the pitch side monitor, Alioum overturned his original decision.
Algeria’s goal came from its one and only shot of the game and few would argue that Senegal was the better side for the other 88 minutes of the match.
