Messi Stunned by Colombia, Coutinho lead Brasil… Copa America update Group stage Round 1

Brasil 3-0 Bolivia

Brazil took down Bolivia by 3 goal. Roberto Firmino and Thiago Silva provided the best chances from corners but it needed a penalty to break the deadlock five minutes after the break.

Coutinho converted from the spot. The ex-Liverpool man then doubled the lead with a header just three minutes later.

Everton Soares fired into the far corner in the 85th minute to wrap up the comfortable victory.

Peru 0-0 Venezuela

Venezuela held on for a 0-0 draw following the late dismissal of defender Luis Mago after Peru saw two goals ruled out in their Copa America Group A opener at the Gremio Arena.

Argentina 0-2 Colombia

Colombia, who celebrate their first win over Argentina in 12 years.  In the 71st minute by a world-class goal from Roger Martinez, who cut inside from the left corner of the box before firing home an unstoppable shot.

Duvan Zapata finished from close range shot goal.

Paraguay 2-2 Qatar

Boualem Khoukhi scored 13 minutes from time as Asian champions Qatar hit back from being down 0-2 to earn a 2-2 draw against Paraguay at the Copa America on Sunday.

An Oscar Cardozo penalty and a stunning Derlis Gonzalez strike gave the South Americans a 2-0 lead in Rio de Janeiro but goals from Almoez Ali and Khoukhi in the final quarter snatched a share of the Group B spoils for the tournament debutants

Uruguay 4-0 Ecuador

Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani scored as Uruguay thrashed 10-man Ecuador 4-0 in their Group C Copa America opener.

Paris St-Germain’s Cavani scored an acrobatic bicycle-kick before Barcelona forward Luis Suarez tapped home a record 57th international goal to make it 3-0 before half-time.

Mina’s volleyed own goal in the 78th minute compounded Ecuador’s miserable night.

Japan 0-4 Chile 

Erick Pulgar had opened the scoring for Chile in the first half before Vargas doubled.

Alexis Sanchez then took his Chilean record goals tally to 42 after diving to head home in the 82nd minute before Vargas scored the pick of the goals moments later with a deft lob over Japan goalkeeper Keisuke Osako.
